Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has paid rich tributes

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has paid rich tributes yoga guru BKS Iyengar later, saying that the practice of the asanas helped him in his glorious career. Iyengar, who was credited for taking the ancient practice of the West, died at a hospital in Pune on Wednesday morning at age 95 after kidney failure.
In his condolence message, Tendulkar recalled his first encounter with Iyengar and said the yoga guru had a big role to play in his illustrious international career.

"My first detailed interaction with Guruji was back in 1999 when Kiran More introduced me to him for back pain that was giving me many problems. Their approach serene heart, light hit me and I spent a week in the care of Guruji "said the batting legend said in a statement.

"I will always be grateful for the wonderful asanas he taught me. Practicing these asanas helped me throughout my career. More than a decade later, I ran into a peculiar problem in my foot which causes immense pain and discomfort. I was advised surgery for the same thing I was not sure. at that time, Zak [Zaheer Khan] suggested I seek the advice of Guruji. Their spirit and positive guidance helped me to recover to the point that it was not necessary surgery, "Tendulkar "said.

Calling the disappearance of Iyengar as a great loss, Tendulkar said that "the smile and healing touch" yoga guru pointed remain with the world forever.

"Guruji (BKS Iyengar) went to his heavenly home and left us with fond memories of how he touched our lives with their unique ways," Tendulkar said in his condolence message.

"Guruji maybe not around anymore, but the warmth of his smile and healing touch will stay with us forever. May God give us all the strength to overcome this loss and May his soul rest in peace," he said.
